Bont Riot TR

Pro-level performance at entry-level pricing – has Bont created the perfect triathlon-specific cycling shoe?

The Bont Riot TR is an entry-level tri shoe chock full of pro-level features. A carbon composite sole is moulded into the company’s trademark ‘tub’ shape to cover the sole, as well as the sides of the shoe. This helps with the retention and adds lateral support. The massive heel loop and dual strap Velcro retention system will make transitions quick and easy, while the micro-fibre upper and mesh panels will keep your feet cool and dry. Bont uses a proprietary resin to create the Riot TR’s fully heat mouldable construction, furthering comfort and fit.

Structural medial longitudinal arch support combats over pronation of the feet, a major cause of knee injuries among cyclists and triathletes. Utilising the dubbed ‘Ergoshell’ toebox, the rider’s toes are not squished into the front on the shoe. This puts the foot in a more anatomically correct and natural position, which allows pedalling forces to be spread over a larger area, reducing hot spots and pressure points. By creating a deep heel cup, the Riot TRs hold the heel firmly in place during the upward stage of the pedal stroke, making over-tight straps a thing of the past and promoting greater efficiency. Weighing in at 529g in size 43 (pair), Bont has created a lightweight, high-performance tri shoe that won’t break the bank.

Pro triathlete Lisa Marangon debuted the Riot TRs at Murray Man triathlon in South Australia where she rode to the top podium spot. “They are awesome! Really quick and comfortable to put on and super stiff. It feels like you are wearing a cycling shoe, not a tri shoe,” says Marangon.
