Swiss long-course ace (and adopted Aussie) Caroline Steffen on why riding from Noosa to Sydney is prefereable to a spin out in the Nevada desert any day of the week

My bike is… a Cervèlo P5

I am lucky enough to be part of … the Cervèlo family and being coached by the legend that is Chris McCormack.

I love my bike because... It’s simply faster and just a beauty. The design of the bike really reflects my personality. I’m extremely motivated by a personal dream. That dream to succeed has driven me to be a permanent fixture in the upper echelon of the sport. To reflect this, on the top tube of my bike are the words ‘Follow Your Dreams’, with a series of arrows pointing forward — representing a path to the finish line. I simply feel happy, proud and very special to be an owner of this piece of art.

My first ever bike was… 2004, a green/silver Greg LeMond Tourmalet.

My other bikes are... Cervèlo P5 black, Cervèlo S5 2013, Cervèlo S5 2014, Beach cruiser, and Focus Raven MTB.

The best ride I ever had was… last Christmas when I rode for a charity event from Sydney to Noosa. 1,300km in six days – an awesome way to see the countryside of Australia.

The worst ride I ever had was... in the desert of Las Vagas. Oh my God – its was freezing cold and such a dry environment.

I look after my bike by... giving it to Local Bike Shop at Mooloolaba – the best mechanics on the coast. Look out for me at… various races around Australia in early 2015.
