The Aussie ITU Commonwealth Games contender talks time-trialing in northern NSW and why gold is more her colour these days than pink

My bike is… Felt AR FRD

I am lucky enough to be part of… Team Felt and also part of team SRAM. I am provided with an incredible frame with Sram Red 22, quarq power meter and Zipp firecrest wheels, it’s an awesome combination.

I love my bike because… it’s aerodynamic and feels really stiff yet it’s also very light. It’s such a comfortable ride and there’s no better feeling then escaping into the mountains and enjoying hours in the saddle.

My first ever bike was… one which had a white basket and those hideous pink tassels off the handle bars. Fortunately I dropped the training wheels and outgrew that one pretty fast. I’m not a fan of pink anymore either.

My other bike is…. a Felt IA

The best rides I ever have are … anywhere in the Gold Coast or Brisbane hinterland. I love getting out of the traffic and heading into the mountains. I also enjoy time trialing over the Queensland border out into the cane fields in northern NSW.

The worst ride I ever had was … probably in the Auckland World Series race earlier this year. I have only crashed twice in my life, and unfortunately this race was one of them, it wasn’t a great feeling.

I look after my bike by...letting my boyfriend (Josh Amberger) clean it. He does a great job… He has actually taught me a lot about mechanics myself which has been helpful. John McMillian looks after the bike set up while I’m here on the Gold Coast and I am very fortunate to have the expertise of the SRAM team at select races around the world.
