Compete in a unique triathlon in the north west Queensland outback town of Julia Creek as part of a festival that includes horse racing, bull riding, bog snorkelling and Australia’s best butt!
Not for the feint-hearted, a tough triathlon in hot and harsh conditions that has taken place since 1997. Renowned for being one of the country’s hardest, the likes of Brad Bevan, Loretta Harrop, Courtney Atkinson and Emma Jackson have all competed in previous years. The race sees you take on an 800m swim through the muddy waters of Eastern Creek before tackling a 25k ride along the Flinder’s Highway and then bracing yourself for a 5k run in the shimmering heat of Julia Creek. As Julia Creek is a relative small place (a population of 400 grows to some 3,000 during the festival), it may be wise to book an accommodation package – options include a swag package with two nights in a single swag with a fully cooked bush breakfast for $155.
